My church recognizes same gender unions, yet the state where I live does not.
By the power invested in me by the state of Ohio, I now pronounce you…
I am so proud to be a member of Pilgrim and the United Church of Christ. The church is comprised of so many different societal groups. It doesn’t surprise me that they would be one of the first churches setting out to gain marriage equality for every committed couple in their congregation.
At what point do you believe in a church state split?

“…as a racially mixed couple, in the not-too-distant past we could not be legally married in many states. So we feel that we should support the next group of people that cannot be legally married. It is not a gay issue, but a civil rights and social justice issue.”
It is a matter of simple civil rights and fairness and it is the struggle of our time.
